How to Patch Drywall

It is inevitable that at some point, we all have a hole somewhere in our house that we are to mend. The bad news itself is the simple inconvenience, and stained walls, where it obvious to an area. The good news is, it's really easy to fix. The even better news is, it is easy enough to resolve and see how it never a hole in the drywall in the first place!

The specific drywall patching, I recently did was to cover up the hole in the drywall that had to be dismantled in order tolower the pipeline, which went into the kitchen sink. My wife finally sink that she wanted. It was in a deep nice ... Heck, those who know me know how short I am ... I just could not stand upright in the sink and you could not even my head! Okay, so this was stretched a bit, but the point is that it is a very deep depression. In fact, the sink was so low that the disposal was resumed, the pipes that was connected with now too high. Since there is no [cheap] technology, which defiesFocus was the only way to cut into the wall and to reduce the pipe.

I will either install the sink and the actual change in separate lines contributions. At the moment we're focusing on fixing the drywall nightmare that we did not create these projects.

Materials needed:

TapeJoint CompoundWood drywall screws (# 6 or # 8, about 1 "long) (Note: Can drywall screws, too) Orange Peel Textures (in) can be dry (size of hole) depend Some Typeof scrap wood (I cut plywood)

Tools Required:

Drywall Sander SawDrillPutty Knife

They are first saw the drywall and cut the debris. Is a prerequisite, you accidentally put something (like fist through the wall, yes, you know who you are). The drywall is in the cave, but of course is not a nice clean shape. So, you start at the edge of the damaged area and just cut a square to remove the damaged drywall to. I purposely made the hole I was talking aboutFixing. So, when I cut, I was very cautious and I saved the drywall removed. If this is the case on your project, do the same, you will save $ 10 or so for the purchase of drywall. The smallest size, drywall is a 8x2. There may be something else, but this is the smallest I know. If you accidentally make a hole in the wall, you are likely to buy on a piece of this. It runs about 11 U.S. dollars at Lowes. If you need to do this, go ahead and measure your hole and youcan cut the drywall to fit the area. Get it close, but it need not be perfect.

Next you cut a piece of wood, about as wide (want to give a little space on the sides of the hand to hold in place while screws) and is more of about 2 inches on the top and bottom. Imagine a rectangle vertically arranged on a square. Once that cut into the hole and put a wood or drywall screw through the hole so that it catches the wood to the right or leftCorner. Do the same for the opposite corner and the two corners at the bottom of the hole. Now you can save instead of a piece of drywall that you (or cut) through the forest, which is now attached to the wall. Just be taken and put four screws into the piece so that it attached to the timber may also

The hard part is done basically. At least the measuring, cutting and screws! Now it's time to make it not noticeable. Well, take your trowel and dig a little joint compound. Push them into theCracks you see around the newly placed piece of drywall. Once this is complete, you can wear your drywall tape and cut the length you need on all four sides of the cut. You want to cover the tape to the cracks, so that there are some tape on the wall and some tape on the new piece in. You only on the recommendation of my father-in-law, I got a small bowl with water and dipped the strip of tape in it before I turned to the wall. It seems to "gum" them a little and helps you stay better.Plus, it helps to connect better with the mesh tape. After the tape is applied, simply run the application connect to the wall. You want to apply it about 3 spread "outside of work, to the inner edges of the tape. You want to be careful not too much, as you do not want that there is a noticeable bulge in the area. Do not be greedy, either, conversely, could have touched it and shows up or something, you can always sand, if you add too much, and you can add moreIf you add up enough. You can tell.

Once the connection is used, you have to dry for about 24 hours. It is through the instructions on most connections. If you do not have as much (if not encrusted) in one area, you can return to work in less time. It must only be dry. Once your dry, you'll take yours Sander (hopefully a power one, but can also use a sanding block) and sand the beginning of the connection to them supple. You want it so much lookas the original wall as possible, so that special attention to the edges. Sometimes the putty will set a lip on the link at the edges. You may not notice, but if you paint the way, you will see it. After sanding is complete, check your work. There may be areas where you need to add more connection. Sometimes small holes are formed, where it air at the connection. Fill this in. .. again they may not seem such a big deal, but if you paint, they are. persevere

If you are satisfied with the connection and it is completely dry, dust it off. You want all the dust and fragments from the wall before you go any further. At this point, provided that the wall is textured, you can use the box texture that you've purchased from the list of materials, and apply the above. Follow the instructions. You may have to play with him a little, because most of the textures have different settings for different effects. Some like it look like a fog, but have aSetting to make it more like a splatter look. Go to must be the judges thereof. My advice is to take a box and practice, then compare and look at the wall to see how it looks. The stuff dries quickly. So if it's on the wall, and you're happy, you are ready to paint it. Hopefully you have the paint color that you originally used anywhere in your garage. If you do not, you need a piece of broken drywall to save your hardware and they do not complyup.

I hope you are no major problems with the drywall. But if you do this, I hope there is enough useful information here to help you patch the hole! If not, let me about your opinions on the situation. Let me try to fix what is going on and give you feedback. I have enough things mixed up, especially that I have received recently found to be pretty decent, the answers I need!
